Pending utility tariff hikes before primary elections
Third week
February 2019
The electoral calendar indicates August 11th, when the primary elections will take place, as the starting line in the presidential run. Until then, many utility tariff hikes are expected, especially in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, in addition to the ones implemented in January. The adjustments expected between February and August will have a direct impact on national inflation of around 3.3 percentage points, considering hikes on electricity, water, gas, buses, private healthcare plans and cellphone plans. Most of them are concentrated in February, March and April, with an incidence of around 1 percentage point per month.
