There Is No Possible Recovery Without Institutions

Fourth week
December 2022

At Econviews we will not discuss the constitutionality of the measure that the government took in 2020 and that the Supreme Court has just overruled. It is not our specialty. We’re on the numbers. The decision is very important for the City of Buenos Aires, but it is relatively little money for the national government: it is around 0.2% of the GDP that it must reallocate in items if it wants to continue helping the Province of Buenos Aires in the way it has been doing. In November, the City would have received an additional 17 billion pesos from the national government. So the first reflection is that all this noise is much less about economic problems and has much more to do with politics.
